On the surface, Postcards from the Second Act is about exploring the world and enjoying the gift of travel. My parents started taking me places when I was one. Since then I’ve been on family trips, group trips, romantic trips and girls’ getaway trips. I’ve travelled by car, train, boat, plane, helicopter, balloon and camel. I’ve camped and backpacked, stayed in BnBs and student hotels, and spent many sleepless hours on overnight trains and planes. Nowadays, I get to follow a more upscale itinerary often flying in business class, staying in luxurious hotels and dining at incredible restaurants. I’ve covered a lot of ground in my life and this blog gives me the opportunity to share some of my best, and worst, stories with you.
But this blog is also a big love letter to three people:
My parents, Rob and Cathy, whose wanderlust and adventurous spirits first formed my love of travel.
And to my husband and favourite travel companion, Gilles, who makes all my travel dreams come true.
Finally, at its heart, Postcards is a celebration of life’s second act. It’s proof that there is life after…after divorce, after failure, after kids, after 40, after your world gets blown up or simply just doesn’t make sense anymore. It’s confirmation that dreams don’t have a shelf life and that any day you wake up is a good day to start over.
So thanks for joining me here at Postcards from the Second Act. I hope you enjoy reading my stories, my adventures and my take on the world as much as I enjoy writing them.
